Emanating from the center of the reverse, a large pillar candle is flanked by two shorter candles, each in an identical holder. Behind them are two pine cones and decorative pine needle sprigs. It is inscribed with the words 2013, 10 DOLLARS and CANADA.
Designed by Claudio D’Angelo, the glowing candles are struck in red enamel, which required a specialized engraving technique.
The familiar portrait of a right-facing Queen Elizabeth II decorates the obverse of each coin. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II and D.G. REGINA.
