President George Washington is found on the obverse of the 2013-P Burnished ATB Perrys Victory 5 oz Silver Coin. This left-profile portrait of Washington was created for the US quarter in 1932 by John Flanagan. A Bicentennial Commission had recommended replacing the Walking Liberty Half Dollar design for just one year in 1932 to mark Washingtons 200th birthday, but Congress opted to put his bust on the quarter permanently starting in 1932 as a replacement for the suspended Standing Liberty design.

Oliver Hazard Perry was the leading US Navy official on the Great Lakes during the War of 1812. Commodore Perry lead US Navy forces to a victory over the Royal Navy in the Battle of Lake Erie in September 1813, chalking up one of the most significant American victories of the war and securing the Great Lakes for the Americans throughout the remainder of the war.

The Oliver Hazard Perry Victory and International Peace Memorial is found on South Bass Island, Ohio. Set on the banks of Lake Erie, the monument marks Perrys victory over the British Royal Navy that year and the lasting peace between Britain, Canada, and the United States that followed.
