Wade in a river of silver when you buy the 2013 Jordan River Silver Proof NIS 2 commemorative coin from the Holy Land Mint.

The Jordan River provides clean water for modern-day Israel and is also one of the most historically and religiously significant rivers in the world, with sacred roles in both Judaism and Christianity.

The reverse, designed by Meir Eshel, depicts a view of the Jordan River, flowing peacefully toward the viewer. The Hermon Mountain range rises against the horizon, and reeds wave amongst the rocks in the foreground. It reads JORDAN RIVER in Hebrew, Arabic and English in the top-left.

The obverse shows a geographical view of the river on its 155-mile course between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. The face value of two New Sheqels is indicated to the right. The Israel State Emblem is to the left, along with the word ISRAEL in English, Arabic and Hebrew.

This coin is the second in the mint’s Views of Israel series. It is composed of 31.1 grams of .925 sterling silver and has a diameter of 38.7 mm. Only 2,800 of these silver proof coins were minted.

Collect this token of the river that appeared so often in the Bible–crossed by Joshua on the way to the Promised Land; parted by the prophet Elijah, and where Elisha witnessed Elijah’s miraculous ascension to heaven; where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist.

Own a piece of these miracles when you buy the 2013 Jordan River Silver Proof NIS from Provident Metals today.
