The United States Mint is known for its high-quality coins. American Eagle Gold Coins are no exception. Each year, these coins are released to the public with the same designs and quality, and collectors and investors both rush to make their purchase. Right now, you can get your 2013-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin in PR70 condition from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in PCGS plastic slabs!
  • Graded a perfect Proof 70 with DCAM designation!
  • Contains 1/10 oz actual gold weight!
  • Made of 22-karat gold!
  • Obverse features the Gold Double Eagle design.
  • Reverse image is a bald eagle family.

These coins ship in plastic slabs from the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). These labels show off the grades these coins have received and other critical information about the coins. With perfect PR70 grades, the coins are all fully struck and free of visual marks. However, some very minor flaws are allowed as long as they dont detract from the appearance of the coins.

PCGS has also given these coins the Deep Cameo (DCAM) designation. DCAM coins have heavily frosted devices and deeply-mirrored backgrounds. This designation is reserved just for coins that have exceptional contrast.

The United States Mint achieves a brilliant finish on their coins by using polished dies and striking them at extremely high levels of pressure. The process results in coins with sharper rims and designs.

Obverse

The famous Gold Double Eagle design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens can be found on the obverse of these coins. This design was created in 1907 but was brought back for these coins. In the image, Lady Liberty is seen walking off the face of the coin with the sun hitting her back. She holds an olive branch and a lit torch.

Reverse

In 1986, sculptor Miley Busiek created an image of a family of bald eagles just for use on these coins. In the design, a large male bald eagle returns to his nest with an olive branch between his talons. Waiting in his nest are his female companion and his hatchling.

History

American Eagle Gold Coins were first released by the United States Mint in 1986. Each year, the US Mint releases these coins in three different versions: proof, bullion, and uncirculated. In addition to the gold releases, there are also silver, platinum, and palladium versions of the coin, which all feature different design sets.
