In 2013, a unique reverse-proof coin was included in the American Buffalo Gold Coin release as a tribute to the centennial anniversary of the Buffalo Nickel’s introduction in 1913, which was the inspiration behind the modern American Buffalo bullion coin. Provident Metals currently has 2013-W Reverse Proof American Buffalo 1 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.

  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • Issued a face value of $50 (USD) by the government of the United States.
  • The obverse features the effigy of an American Indian.
  • On the reverse is a powerful buffalo.
  • Comes with a W mint mark from the West Point Mint.

When you purchase this 2013-W Reverse Proof American Buffalo 1 oz Gold Coin online at Provident Metals, you will receive your coin in an individual acrylic capsule. As a reverse-proof coin, this specimen features mirrored design elements overlaying frosted background fields. This release honors James Earle Frasers artwork from the 1913 Buffalo Nickel.

The 2013-W Reverse Proof Buffalo Gold Coin showcases an indigenous American Indian in right-profile relief on its obverse design, with a braided hairdo that includes feathers at the back of his head and a stoic expression. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, W, F, and 2013.

On the reverse side of the 2013-W Reverse Proof American Buffalo 1 oz Gold Coins, the American bison is depicted in left-profile relief with its head down, symbolizing strength and power while standing on a small mound of dirt. The inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, $50, and 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD.

Fraser received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the National Sculpture Society’s Medal of Honor and the American Numismatic Society’s Saltus Medal. He was also elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Institute of Arts and Letters.
