History

Edith Wilson and President Wilsons marriage received criticism in the press due to the brief time between the passing of his first wife and their wedding. After her husbands presidency, she dedicated herself to preserving his legacy, defending his policies and her role in his administration until her passing in 1961. At that time, she held the distinction of being the longest-living First Lady.
