Each 2013-W US Mint First Spouse Helen Taft 1/2 oz Gold Coin has been graded Mint State 70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service. This means it features full mint luster and lacks any visible imperfections. This particular issue was the first in the series to have a mintage of fewer than 2,000 coins. Additionally, these coins come with a label hand-signed by David Hall, the co-founder of PCGS.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2013-W US Mint First Spouse Helen Taft Gold Coin features a forward-facing portrait of Helen Taft. Known as “Nellie” to those close to her, she served as First Lady from 1909 to 1913 while William Howard Taft was president. Inscriptions here include HELEN TAFT, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, 2013, 27TH, 1909-1913, and the W mint mark.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2013-W First Spouse Helen Taft 1/2 oz Gold Coin, her influence is reflected in the design. Inspired by her time in Japan, she played a key role in the effort to plant Japanese cherry blossom trees along the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. Today, these trees remain one of the citys most famous attractions. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, $10, 1/2 OZ., and .9999 FINE GOLD.

History

Helen Taft left a lasting impact on the role of First Lady. She was the first to ride in her husbands inaugural parade, setting a precedent for future First Ladies to take on a more public role during inaugural events.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. When will my order ship?

Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Can I choose the method of shipping?

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.

Will I need to sign for my package?

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.

What about International Orders?

Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
