This .999 silver coin has a face value of 2. The reverse features Britannia, the female personification of the island of Great Britain used since ancient Rome. Britannia first appeared on a coin in first century Rome, but was not included on British coinage until 1672.
The reverse image is of Britannia in her Roman-style helmet, holding Poseidon’s trident in one hand and an olive branch and shield in the other. The shield is decorated in the same style as the British flag. Britannias dress and hair swirl in the wind as she looks out to sea, watchful against threats. The rim reads 1 oz 999 FINE SILVER, BRITANNIA 2014.
The obverse depicts Queen Elizabeths dignified portrait. The words ELIZABETH II DG REG FID DEF and 2 POUNDS are written around the rim.
The Britannia is 38.6 mm in diameter with a reeded edge. It was first released in 1997, though the Gold Britannia was first issued in 1987.

this is a classic coin I love. Item received in good condition except a few blemishes on both sides. Maybe because of the proof mirror-like surface, any tiny blemish seems rather obvious. I don't know if this is common but I surely expected a flawless coin. Don't want if I can exchange the item."

In terms of bullion value, the Britannia is no different than the ASE, the Maples, or any other 1-ounce silver coin. But the finish is gorgeous - a high-luster, highly-polished finish that is closer to a proof finish than the matte finish we're used to. The design is very pretty too!"

I just received my roll of Silver Britannia and my oh my it is shiny!
The coin looks like its been buffed to a mirror finish. Very nice looking round. So nice that at first I thought it looked fake. I couldn’t believe this was the finish for this round. I thought it would be more like the Silver Eagles. Nope, instead it is has a very reflective finish, kind of like those cheap plastic chrome plated coins you can find at a toy store. Overall, a very nice and shiny round.

Compared to the 2013 I ordered from here, my Britannia did not arrive with scratches on it. However, it looks like it developed a milk spot, because it has an ugly spot on it that won’t come out, and I choose not to clean any of my coins I get for obvious reasons. 5 stars for quick payment processing / shipping, and for the quality of the rest of my order but 1 star for Coin Quality on the Britannia, because of the likely milk spot that’s on it.
