Highlights:
The obverse features the staid portrait of Queen Elizabeth in the center. She wears no crown and only a simple pearl necklace and earrings. Around the rim, the coin reads ELIZABETH II, 50 DOLLARS 2014.
The reverse shows the Canadian Maple Leaf in gorgeous detail, every vein traced and standing out. The inscriptions include CANADA, FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR with 9999 on either side of the leaf.
The 2014 coin includes the micro-engraving innovation introduced with last years design, a small maple leaf the size of a privy mark that includes the number 14 laser-etched into the coin. This detail is only visible under magnification, and is a security measure to counteract fraud.
The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf was the first bullion coin in the world to be minted in 24-karat gold to .9999 fineness.

The diameter is smaller in Gold form compared to a 1oz Silver Maple coin. But, it is real, valuable and … it’s GOLD.
