The 2014 Chinese 1 oz Gold Panda continues a tradition of excellence for the Bank of China series. Diversify your portfolio with an adorable precious metal investment — each Gold Panda is comprised of .999 fine gold.
Pandas are viewed internationally as one symbol of China, and the endangered species are incredibly popular. As investments, the gold coins are desirable, too!
The reverse of each coin features a roly poly panda playing with a large stick, its legs looped over the branch. A wall of bamboo rises behind the bear, and 500 YUAN is marked to the right. On the bottom rim, the coin reads 1 OZ AU .999.
The obverse features the stunning Temple of Heaven, with the year 2014 on the bottom rim and “People’s Republic of China” written in Chinese characters above the top rim.
Pandas are kept in captivity to protect the species and encourage breeding. Yet the black and white bear was first displayed in a zoo during the Western Han Dynasty in 157 BC, where it was the most treasured animal in the menagerie. Pandas were not included in Chinese zoos again until 1950, and they were not showcased outside of China until 1916. The Brookfield Zoo in Chicago was the first Western zoo to include a panda when it secured a live cub in 1936.
Despite the bear’s rarity in both the wild and in zoos, now you can have a panda of your own — when you buy a 2014 1 oz Gold Panda from Provident Metals.

"
I ordered this coin about three weeks ago. It arrived in great condition. The real surprise was when I phoned about the order and was told I made a mistake on the check (I was rushing to get it in the mail for the postmark). Laura R. was the support representative on the phone with me. She was great! Provident could easily have canceled my order, and charged me more as gold had increased around 40 bucks more. She explained how I could send the money through Provident's account, then followed up with an email. The coin was in hand 4 days later. Great service, thanks Laura!"

Although more of a Maple and Double Eagle's guy for gold I had to have at least one Panda. The coin itself is beautiful and looking at the increased collector value of older Pandas I don't feel you can really go wrong here. If you believe the theory that China will become a dominate power in the next 30 years it can't hurt to aquire these unique coins now. Provident process was fast and easy."
