Each piece was produced by the Perth Mint of Australia and contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
The reverse features a prowling saltwater crocodile with its jaw agape — displaying vicious teeth used to grip prey in a bite stronger than any other animal today. Inscriptions around the expertly-detailed design read AUSTRALIAN SALTWATER CROCODILE and 2014 1 oz 999 SILVER, as well as a Perth mint mark.
A portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is included on the obverse. ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA and 1 DOLLAR are inscribed.

About the Saltwater Crocodile
Known as “salties” to many Australians, Saltwater Crocs are the world’s largest living reptiles. Males can grow to be 22 feet long and weigh nearly 4,000 pounds — though the average size is between 14 and 17 feet, with a weight of 2,000 pounds.
The reptile has been known to attack various creatures that venture into its territory, including wild boar, deer, monkeys and pythons, to name a few. Salties are not picky eaters and will eat anything, from small species to larger game.
When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Seeing as that I did not buy them for her picture, I did not mind. The crocodile sides was completely intact. Very cool coin."

"I had shied away from this coin after some horror stories about loose packaging. I acquired one while they garnered free shipping...(how wrong could you go?)
It is easily one of the most striking 'technical' piece I have seen. The Croc scale detailing is magnificent. The luster of the Croc is dazzling. I will most likely take a chance & get a tube of them. Well worth the gamble." |

"I just got my second order of these, I ordered 5 at a time and they came individually packaged in the plastic flip. I think this is the way to go when ordering these because from what I've seen ordering from tube is a mistake. Total I've ordered 10 and 9 of them were and are completely flawless. Only one had a small almost undetectable scratch below the crocodile this wasn't too disappointing considering others have come much much worse. I recommend buying these but 5 or 10 at a time and watch out when buiying a tube of these."

I usually just buy for the silver content and rarely buy coins, only reason I bought these was for the crocodile. I was surprised to find out that these coins fit in the same air tites as the American Silver Eagles. I’ve never bought perth mint products but glad I did I’m definitely happy with this purchase. “

“The coins are nice nice nice and I love the matte type finish in the background and the shiny ol Gator but the one concern is that the matte finish really helps amplify the scratches on the rounds. I ordered 6 and three were scratched so it is a 50-50% gamble. After I had ordered as a pre-order prior to them being available Provident added that there were coins with scratches, milk stains, rim dings and the like from the Perth mint. I may have chosen otherwise had I known that but the three that were not scratched up are dandies! “

“Usually the Perth Mint is renowned for their excellent quality and premium packaging, but that is not the case with this coin. Usually when you order tubes, the mint will put a piece of styrofoam in the top of the tube to keep the coins inside from knocking around during transport (even generic rounds come like this), why the Perth Mint neglected to do that with this coin is beyond me. It contributed to some minor scratching and nicks on the coins. That’s not Provident’s fault though. So 5 stars to Provident’s service, but 3 stars to the Perth Mint on this coin. I guess it’s nice to have one for the novelty, but if you’re expecting the quality of a kookaburra or a koala, I’d pass on this one.”
“The coin itself is shallow in relief. The seal on the tube fell off in transit, causing the coins to fall out of the tube and rattle around in the box. Might want to tape that down without messing with the seal.
In the end, it’s a govt bullion coin with something on it other than a Maple, Eagle, or the other mass produced bullion coins. All good, it’s and ounce of government silver at a couple bucks over spot, just nothing exciting.
I’m not trying to slam Provident, just giving an honest evaluation.

“Maybe it’s just my batch but, I received several coins that had what looks like a strike error on the letter V in silver. It looks sloppy right in the center of the letter V. Almost like if there was an obstruction on the coin die causing it to scrape away excess silver right in between the letter V. It looks pretty bad. I ordered 23 of them and this defect is on almost all of them. Anybody else have this issue?”
“If the premium was lower, (not 3 bucks plus a coin) it would be just ok. The coin is a neat design but the quality is lower then most private bullion dealers whom make their own coins. Shocking this came from a government mint, and if I was the Perth Mint Id be embarrassed. Better coins like the Noah’s Ark with lower premiums or just stack eagles and maples. If you gotta get one I understand the rave, but really its not worth it and spend your money elsewhere. “
“The Perth Mint dropped the ball on these… BIG time! As others have mentioned, the contents of the mint tubes are not secured properly, and the coins are allowed to shift around during transport. Every single coin in the tube has specks & flakes all over it from where the coins rubbed & knocked together. I am REAL disappointed with the quality of these coins and that the Perth Mint–the PERTH MINT, for God’s sake–would be this stupid and uncaring about their product. These would have been really neat coins if treated properly. Yes, I realize these are bullion coins and not collectors pieces–which is why I gave them an extra star–but come on! We should be paying $0.50/oz over spot for these low-quality beat up coins, not $2.59! Just my opinion, of course; yours may vary.”
