Produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, the 2014 Silver Bison is the eighth release in the O Canada Series, which features iconic images of Canadian life.
Composed of 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver, each coin was graded PF69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) due to its nearly flawless condition.
Like other Canadian coins, the obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the reigning monarch of Canada. ELIZABETH II and D.G. REGINA — which stands for “Dei Gratia Regina” or “By the Grace of God, Queen” — are also inscribed.
Designed by Trevor Tennant, the reverse features four bison grazing in a field. CANADA and 10 DOLLARS are engraved.

The bison is one of Canada’s most iconic wildlife symbols. In the United States, bison are sometimes hunted by bears, wolves and cougars.
In northern Canada, however, the massive creatures freely roam protected areas, keeping them safe from extinction. Buffalo are most commonly found in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories.
What is PF69?
A grade of PF69 means the coin has maintained its original luster and comes in nearly perfect condition. The coin has no hairlines or scuffs, and has no more than two flaws viewable through magnification.
