The Royal Canadian Mint typically has a production focus similar to that of the Perth Mint in Australia. Both mints offer a range of silver and gold bullion with designs featuring native flora and fauna, while also offering Chinese Lunar-themed products as well. In 2014, the Royal Canadian Mint struck a gold bullion coin that represented the ultimate gifting opportunity. Right now, you can get the 2014 Canadian Five Blessings 1/10 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals.

  • Bears a face value of $5 (CAD) fully backed by the Canadian government.

Your 2014 Canadian Five Blessings 1/10 oz Gold Coin is available to purchase today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The one-time release of these coins in 2014 included a 1 oz option and a 1/10 oz option, with limited mintages set for each weight. These 1/10 oz gold coins had a higher mintage of 2,000 coins compared to just 350 coins for the 1 oz weight. Each individual coin ships inside of a protective plastic capsule.

Obverse

On the obverse field of the 2014 Canadian Five Blessings 1/10 oz Gold Coin is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted here in right-profile relief in a design created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. This design is just the second in Canadian history to be created by a Canadian artist and is the first during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II to depict the monarch without a crown. The last time this occurred came during the reign of her father, King George VI.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2014 Canadian Five Blessings 1/10 oz Gold Coin offers designs of five different animals arranged in a half-moon shape. On the right side of the design element, you will find the Chinese symbol for good fortune. To the left, you will notice five animals: a bat, a deer, a crane, and two magpies. Each one of the animals has a different meaning related to positive blessings in your life.

History

The Five Blessings design comes with different meanings associated with each of the animals. The bat represents happiness, the deer success, and the crane long life. The two magpies taken together represent joy and good fortune. Offering this coin to a friend or loved one is a wish for many blessings in their life.

Ordering

These coins were produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, the sovereign mint of Canada that was founded in Ottawa in 1908.
