The reverse is inscribed with the Chinese character for horse, along with the words "Year of the Horse" and the mintmark P. Each coin has a diameter of 100.6 mm and is 14.6 mm thick.
The obverse of each 2014 Year of the Horse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s Queen Elizabeth II design, along with the coin’s year of issue, weight, fineness and its denomination of 30 dollars.
