The igloo deserves its place on this coin, as a structure unique to the frigid reaches of Canada. The largest type of igloo had up to five rooms, housing 20 people. The structure is made of individual blocks of snow, polished to fit perfectly together without additional internal support. The heat trapped inside would also slightly melt the interior, smoothing it out and creating an additional layer of ice that strengthened the igloo overall.
