Obverse
The obverse face of each coin bears the image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This particular depiction of the Queen features a polite, warm expression as she gazes off the right side of the coin. Her name and D.G. Regina, which means By the Grace of God, Queen, are featured on this side of the coin.
Reverse
On the reverse side of these coins, you will see the image of a downhill skier against a beautiful Canadian mountain landscape. Large, snow-capped pines and mountains are visible all around the skier as he makes his way down the mountainside. Downhill skiing is said to date back to 4500 B.C.E. in ancient Scandinavian culture, but Canadians are best-known for the sport. History
Kendra Dixson, a Canadian artist, designed the imagery for these coins especially for the O Canada series. The Royal Canadian Mint created the series to honor the things that are distinctly Canadian. The collection features five iconic images in .9999 pure silver.
