For the second release in the O Canada series from the Royal Canadian Mint, Canadian artist Kendra Dixson designed the image of a downhill skier on a snow-capped Canadian mountain. Today, you can purchase the 2014 Proof Canadian Scenic Skiing in Canada 1 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals in brilliant proof condition with a maroon clamshell for displaying and storing the coin.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the coins in this listing are brilliant proof coins that ship in the beloved Royal Canadian Mint maroon clamshell display box. The coins also ship with Certificates of Authenticity that feature individual serial numbers that are unique to each coinalso showing just when your coin was struck in the process of creating the series.
Obverse
The obverse face of each coin bears the image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This particular depiction of the Queen features a polite, warm expression as she gazes off the right side of the coin. Her name and D.G. Regina, which means By the Grace of God, Queen, are featured on this side of the coin.
Reverse
On the reverse side of these coins, you will see the image of a downhill skier against a beautiful Canadian mountain landscape. Large, snow-capped pines and mountains are visible all around the skier as he makes his way down the mountainside. Downhill skiing is said to date back to 4500 B.C.E. in ancient Scandinavian culture, but Canadians are best-known for the sport. You will find the year of mintage and face value of the coin on this side of the coin along with the country of mint.
History
Kendra Dixson, a Canadian artist, designed the imagery for these coins especially for the O Canada series. The Royal Canadian Mint created the series to honor the things that are distinctly Canadian. The collection features five iconic images in .9999 pure silver.
