Reverse
The reverse of the 2014-W First Spouse Lou Hoover 1/2 oz Gold Coin features a 1920s-era radio. This design honors an important moment from her tenure as First Ladydelivering the first public radio address by a First Lady, following in the footsteps of her predecessor, Grace Coolidge, who was the first to speak on the radio. History
Lou Hoover was one of the most well-educated First Ladies to serve in the White House. She was the second to hold a degree and the first with a college degree in geology. Additionally, she spoke multiple languages and was deeply involved in humanitarian efforts throughout her life.
