The 2015 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad is now available through Provident Metals from the National Mint of Mexico. The Silver Libertads are struck with one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, and like the American Silver Eagles, Chinese Silver Pandas, and Canadian Silver Maples, they carry a legal tender value, are highly sought after among coin collectors and investor, and are credible investments because they have the backing of a sovereign government.

The National Mint of Mexico, or the Casa de Moneda de Mexico, was established in 1535 in Spain, making it the oldest mint in the Americas. This mint is an IRA approved facility (ISO9001), meaning that the Silver Libertads are produced under the highest minting standards and may be included in precious metals IRAs.

Mexican Silver Libertad coins were first issued in 1982. The original design came from the Centenario gold coin, which celebrated Mexico’s freedom from Spain and was minted from 1921 through 1947. This coin featured the Mexican Angel of Independence, “Winged Victoria” (also referred to as “Winged Victory”) holding a laurel wreath and broken chains.

Like the Centenario gold coin, the reverse of the 2015 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad features the Winged Victory Angel. As the central theme of the design, the Winged Victoria of Independence stands gracefully between two volcanoes, Popocatepeti and Iztaccihuati, which is the name of two lovers in pre-Columbian lore. “1 ONZA,” “PLATA PURA,” “2015” and “LEY .999” are inscribed around the rim on the upper half of the coin.

Mexico’s national seal – an eagle standing atop cactus with a snake in its beak – is displayed at the center of the obverse. Similar symbols surround the design and represent Mexico’s 10 provinces. “ESTDOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” is inscribed around the central image.

The 2015 line of Silver Mexican Libertads is a beautiful addition to Provident Metals’ Foreign Silver Bullion offerings. Like its United States and Canadian Counterparts, the Mexican Silver Libertads are offered in various weights. All Silver Libertads will ship in the condition that they are received from the mint. Individual coins will ship in plastic sleeves and quantities of 25 ship in plastic tubes.

This striking Mexican Silver Libertad is an inexpensive, yet extremely valuable addition to your silver collection. Order one today with Provident Metals in a few short clicks online, or by calling our team today.
