Strengthen your Silver Bullion collection by investing in this 2015 5 oz Mexican Silver Libertad, available for purchase at Provident Metals. The National Mint of Mexico struck each coin with five ounces of .999 fine silver. Mintage of the 5 oz Silver Libertads are often the lowest of all weights in the series, so take advantage of their temporary availability.

The Silver Libertads are among the most coveted coins in the world, because like the American Silver Eagles and Chinese Silver Pandas, they are minted and backed by a national government. Each 65 mm silver coin is struck at an IRA-approved facility, which ensures all Libertads are created using the most thorough, high-quality standards possible.

The obverse design features “Winged Victory”, the visage of a winged woman that symbolizes Mexico’s fight for autonomy. Winged Victory also graces the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column, which was constructed in 1910 at the start of the War of Independence in Mexico. On the coin’s obverse, she is shown between two volcanoes — Popocatepeti and Iztaccihuati. “5 ONZAS,” “PLATA PURA” and “LEY .999” are inscribed alongside the year of issue and a mintmark.

Mexico’s coat of arms is located at the center of the reverse. The image depicts an eagle holding a snake in its mouth as it perches on a cactus plant. “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” is written in a half circle above the eagle, which translates to “UNITED MEXICAN STATES.” Representations of 10 historical coats of arms in Mexico encircle the main design around the rim of the coin.

To celebrate its independence from Spain, the National Mint of Mexico first featured Winged Victory on the Centenario gold coin, which was issued from 1921-1947. When Libertads were first produced in 1982, they commemorated that famous design. During the mid-1990s, Libertads were given a redesign and began to appear in their current form.

The Mint of Mexico — or Casa de Moneda de Mexico — is the oldest mint in full operation in the Americas. It was established in 1535 in Spain, and has been producing current, commemorative coins, medals and more since that time.

With its notoriety and increasing popularity among precious metals investors and numismatists, the Silver Mexican Libertad is a must-own for your portfolio. Buy your 5 oz Silver Libertad from Provident Metals today and take advantage of Free Shipping. Order in just a few short clicks or by phone!
