The fourth coin in the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters series to be issued in 2015 celebrates an extraordinary wildlife refuge in the state of Delaware. The wetlands of Bombay Hook are the inspiration for the 2015 ATB Bombay Hook 5 oz Silver Coin, now available from Provident Metals.

Provident Metals provides this coin in near-perfect condition, showing original mint luster with no more than two detracting flaws. A First Strike coin, it was received for grading within thirty days from the time of release. It arrives in its own protective plastic slab packaging and we insure all shipments against possible damage or loss en route.

The coin’s obverse side features a portrait of George Washington that will definitely look familiar, as it’s the same portrait that has graced the circulation quarter of the United States for eight decades, first created in 1932 to commemorate the first American President’s bicentennial birthday. It also carries the inscriptions “United States of America,” “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “Quarter Dollar.”

The reverse side’s artwork showcases a wetlands landscape and features detailed images of a great blue heron and an egret, created by award-winning medallic artist Phebe Hemphill. It also carries the inscriptions “Bombay Hook, “”Delaware,” “2015,” and “E Pluribus Unum.”

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge was created in 1937 to preserve a natural migration ground for hundreds of thousands of birds. Each spring and fall, an immense avian population descends on these wetlands to seek food and rest at the midpoint of their journeys to new habitats. The singular natural beauty of this landscape made it an obvious choice for sites to be commemorated by the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful series.
