Innovative and entirely unique, the map-shaped 2015 Australian Redback Spider 1 oz Silver Coin is produced by the Perth Mint. The oldest operating mint in Australia, Perth Mint has a reputation for designing and producing some of the most interesting coins the collectors market has seen. The Australian map-shaped series of coins take the Perth Mints innovation to new heights of creativity. This .999 pure silver coin is shaped just like the Australian continent and features a redback spider over a colorized background.
The map-shaped coins released by Perth Mint are perhaps the most unique of all coins produced by the mint. Straying from the traditional round coin shape, these coins are shaped like the Australian continent. The unique shape of the coins alone makes them highly collectible.
The first of the series was released in 2012, featuring a kookaburra on the coin. The kookaburra perches on a wooden fence against a backdrop of a field. After the kookaburra came several beautiful designs that featured an emu, a kangaroo, platypus, koala, shark, and crocodile.
The obverse design of the 2015 Australian Redback Spider 1 oz Silver Coin has a frosted finish. The center of the coin features the profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The image of Her Majesty is surrounded by engravings that include the coins face value, year of issue, Australia and Elizabeth II.
The reverse design of the 2015 Australian Redback Spider 1 oz Silver Coin features a colorized image with a crawling redback spider over it. The reverse of the coin also features engravings that detail the purity, weight and the metal content of the coins. Redback Spider and 2015 are also featured on the coin.
The map-shaped coins produced by the Perth Mint are considered legal tender in Australia. With a face value of $1 (AUD) and interesting map shape to them, youre not likely to want to spend these collectible silver coins any time soon.
Each of the coins is delivered in a presentation box and packaging that details the design of the map-shaped coin.
