Mexican Libertad silver bullion coins debuted in 1982 from the Mexican Mint. The series offered just a 1 oz silver coin from 1982 to 1990, but exploded during the five years to follow as the mint introduced four fractional-ounce coins, a 2 oz coin, and a 5 oz coin. The largest of the fractional-ounce coins is the 1/2 oz silver option. Provident Metals currently has the 2015 Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin in stock for online purchasing.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with individual plastic flips or mint tubes of 35 coins!
  • 25th year of release for the Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz silver coin!
  • Limited mintage of just 16,000 silver coins!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .999 pure silver in BU condition.
  • The obverse depicts Winged Victory.
  • On the reverse is the image of the Mexican Coat of Arms.

When you buy the 2015 Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin online at Provident Metals, each item you receive comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins will ship inside of protective plastic flips while multiples of 35 are most likely to ship in a mint tube. Because the Mexican Mint offers various packaging within a bag for multiples 500 coins, we cannot guarantee how your multiples of 500 will be packaged inside of that bag.

Obverse

The obverse field of all 2015 Mexican Libertad Silver Coins comes with a depiction of Winged Victory. Her figure stands at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City as a symbol of triumph over Spanish tyranny and the nations successful fight for independence that ended in 1821. In the background field, you will find the image of the twin volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl.

Reverse

On the reverse side, 2015 Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coins feature the Mexican Coat of Arms. This is the modern rendition of the national seal with a Mexican golden eagle battling a serpent on the arm of a cactus plant. The seal includes a wreath below and an inscription of Estados Unidos Mexicanos above.

History

Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coins were introduced in 1991 alongside the 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz coins. The 1/2 oz silver version of the coin has been struck in every year since that time and has seen its mintage figures jump between being the highest among the fractional-ounce coins and the lowest of the four.
