The American Numismatic Association was the sponsor of the Worlds Fair of Money in 2015 and helped the city of Chicago host the event celebrating coin collections, modern proof releases, and all-things coin related. These coins include a privy mark on the obverse field with an oval shape that includes the image of the Willis Tower in Chicago.

Obverse

On the obverse of these 2015 Somalia Elephant 1 oz Silver Coins is the image of two elephants walking along the savannah in a row, one in front of the other. The lead elephant is clearly the elder with its long tusks compared to the other elephant that lacks tusks.

Reverse

The reverse field of 2015 Somalia Elephant Silver Coins bears the coat of arms for Somalia. This design includes a crowned shield with a leopard on either side. The shield itself has a background of horizontal lines with a singular star in the center. Beneath the shield, you will find two crossed fern leaves and crossed spears.

History

The Willis Tower was chosen to represent the city in this privy-mark release. The Willis Tower was completed in 1973 and became the tallest office building in the world, surpassing the World Trade Center buildings in New York. It held that title for 25 years. It remained the tallest building in the Western hemisphere for nearly 41 years until the new One World Trade Center building in New York City was completed in 2014.
