History
The Proof American Eagle Gold Coin series made its debut in 1986 with the release of the 1 oz denomination, followed by the introduction of the 1/2 oz coin in 1987, and the 1 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins in 1988. Proof Eagle Gold Coins have been issued annually, with the exception of 2009 due to economic uncertainties at the time.
