The 2016 Gold Maples feature a security mark to authenticate each coin. Each gold coin features micro-engraved radial lines. These radial lines are located on both sides of the coin, and create a “light-diffracting pattern” that gives Maple Leafs a unique glow.
The reverse of this gold coin features a Canadian Maple Leaf. “CANADA,” FINE GOLD 1/4 OZ OR PUR” and “9999” are inscribed around the edge of the coin.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse with the inscriptions “10 DOLLARS”, “2016”, and “ELIZABETH II.”

This is the first gold piece I've bought over 1/10th of an ounce and I love it! Came in the mint vacuum sealed plastic which was VERY HARD to cut open, and went right into a 20mm air-tite into a nice velvet case. I absolutely love this coin but I think I will be buying crown gold (22K) from now on as this pure gold is very soft and malleable, I might have slightly damaged it getting it out of the plastic which is my fault. Overall though a great coin for a great price! Just be careful if you remove it from the plastic, use a sharp razor blade!"
