With a well-deserved global reputation for releasing interesting and popular designs, the Perth Mint continues to push the boundaries with map-shaped coins that have proven to be in high demand. 2016 Australian Dingo 1 oz Silver Coin features a colorized design that depicts one of the creatures synonymous with the Australian continent. The dingo is a medium-sized dog that calls the wilds of Australia home. The detailed image of the dingo is the 2nd design that was released in 2016. Its the 10th overall release in the Australian Map-Shaped series. The coin is made from .999 pure silver and is popular amongst collectors.
Highlights:
The introduction of the Australian Map-Shaped series of coins saw the Perth Mint releasing two new designs each year. Each of the 1 oz coins has the unique map shape that has them standing out amongst other silver coins. The animals featured on the coins include kookaburra, platypus, redback spider and saltwater crocodile.
The coins are shipped securely in a Perth Mint display box that will keep them protected while also making it easy to display them on a shelf. Each of the coins contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver, which makes them highly collectible amongst investors and collectors of Australian coins.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2016 Australian Dingo 1 oz Silver Coin features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The effigy of Her Majesty has appeared on the reverse of all coinage in Britain, Australia and across the commonwealth. The Queens name Elizabeth II and Australia are engraved on the obverse on the coin. Also engraved on the coin are the face value of the year and the year of minting, 2016.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2016 Australian Dingo 1 oz Silver Coin features an image of Australias dingo dog. The design of the dingo is detailed and depicts the dog standing in front of a rocky outcrop of the Australian outback. The background of the design is colorized, with lovely hues of orange and red.
The dingo is a wild canine that is known to run the deserts of Australia. These wild animals are thought to have descended from dogs that arrived on the continent several thousands of years ago, accompanying settlers from other parts of the world, including Asia. While largely wild, some do domesticate the dingo. They have also been interbred with domesticated canines over the years. All in all, the dingo is a wild dog that is much better left roaming the Outback.
