The Royal Canadian Mint has created some of the purest and beautiful coins in the world. To add to its spectacular line of coins, the mint has created the SuperLeaf. The SuperLeaf design features the maple leaf design that was introduced in 2007 on the Million Dollar Maple Leaf Coin. Right now, Provident Metals is proud to off the 2016 Canadian SuperLeaf 1.5 oz Silver Coin in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition.

Highlights:

  • Ships in a protective plastic flip or plastic tubes of 15!
  • Radial lines for added security!
  • Each coin contains 1.5 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver.
  • Given a face value of $8 (CAD) backed by the Canadian government.
  • Queen Elizabeth II featured on the obverse.
  • Reverse includes the SuperLeaf design.

All of the coins in this listing are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Coins in this condition will have no signs of wear and tear, but they could feature a few minor flaws, including breaks in the luster, contact marks, and spotted surfaces.

The reverse design for these coins was originally used on the Million Dollar Maple Leaf coin, which was a 100 Kilogram Gold Coin with .99999 pure gold and only a $1 (CAD) face value. There were only five of these coins minted, but they honored the maple leaf in a new, unique way.

Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of Canadian coinage created since 1952 when she became the Queen of England. This image was created in 2003 by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt.

Reverse

The reverse of each coin showcases the sugar maple leaf as designed in 2007 for the Million Dollar Maple Leaf coins. Unlike the original design, this one shows a cluster of three leaves with intertwined stems.

History

The Royal Canadian Mint is responsible for producing coinage for Canada. It is the official sovereign mint of the nation. The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in 1908 in Ottawa, and the mint was expanded in the 1980s to add a second facility in Winnipeg to boost production capacity.
