The stock horse is a distinctive breed developed in Australian through the combined bloodline of various other breeds the British brought to the continent during the colonial era. Eventually, the Australian stock horse emerged as its own breed known for strength and stamina while working farms and ranches. The horse burst onto the international stage during World War I when ANZAC forces fighting for the Allied Powers used the stock horse in battle.
