Niues Mickey Through the Ages Series contains gold and silver coins that feature different images of Mickey Mouse from Walt Disney animated shorts released in the 1920s and 1930s. For nearly a century, Mickey Mouse has been a beloved character for both children and adults. Right now, you can purchase the 2016 Proof Niue Mickey Mouse Plane Crazy Series 1/4 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals.
The coins in this listing are proof specimens that ship in special display boxes made from wood. These boxes not only provide protection for the coins, but they also make a great display case for the beautiful coins. Each coin comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity to prove that your coin is authentic.
On the obverse of each of the coins in this series is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her image on these coins was created in 1998 as the fourth-generation image to be used on coinage. This image was created by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The reverse face of each coin features the image of Mickey Mouse holding a horseshoe from Minnie Mouse while he sits in the cockpit of his plane. Also on the reverse of the coin are engravings of the weight, purity, and metal content of the coin, as well as the Disney copyright symbol and the name and release year of the film.
Located in Auckland, New Zealand, the New Zealand Mint is responsible for producing all of the Mickey Through the Ages coins for the government of Niue. The New Zealand Mint is the only active mint in the country, but it isnt responsible for producing New Zealands government-issued coinage. Instead, New Zealand coinage is struck by the Royal Mint and the Royal Canadian Mint.
