Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this image originated at the Royal Mint of England in 1998 and made it to Australian and Commonwealth coins in 1999. The design is so popular it is still in use across South Pacific Commonwealth nations. Her Majesty is in right-profile relief with Elizabeth II, Niue, Two Dollars, and 2016 inscribed on this side.
Reverse
Poe Dameron is depicted in three different visuals on the reverse of 2016 Proof Niue Star Wars Poe Dameron Silver Coins. In the foreground, he is featured in his fighter pilots gear with a helmet on. The background field is colorized and includes a left-profile portrait of Dameron with his X-Wing fighter helmet on and in a design as he runs with BB-8 at his side across a desert opening.
History
The Star Wars Original Series coins feature only gold and silver coin options with no colorization. The Star Wars Force Awakens coins are beautiful silver proofs with the aforementioned colorized visuals.
