The wildly popular Birds of Prey Series from the Royal Canadian Mint was a big hit, so much so that the mint has decided to bring the designs back with a new Reverse Proof finish series. The release schedule is set to mimic the original series with the new finish but the same designs from Emily Damstra. Today, you can purchase the 2016 Reverse Proof Canadian Peregrine Falcon 1 oz Silver Coin in perfect NGC PF70 condition from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The original Birds of Prey series was released in February in 2014, with subsequent designs being released in August and February of both 2014 and 2015. This series was created to celebrate predatory birds that are native to Canada. All of the designs were created by Emily Damstra, a Canadian artist who was also responsible for the final two designs in the Canadian Wildlife Series as well.
The coins in this listing will arrive in perfect PF70 condition according to the NGC. This means that they will have their full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws.
Obverse
The obverse features Queen Elizabeth IIs effigy in right-profile relief. The design was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt.
Reverse
On the reverse face is the Peregrine Falcon design. Since these are reverse-proof coins, the background will appear frosted, while the falcon design is deeply-mirrored and shiny.
History
The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in 1908 by the British Royal Mint. The original facility was located in Ottawa, and there is now an additional facility in Winnipeg.
