History

In 2016, the US Mint released two versions of the Proof American Silver Liberty Medal. Both featured the same designs but were minted at different facilities. The 2016-W medals were struck at the West Point Mint, marked with a W mint mark, while the 2016-S medals were minted at the San Francisco Mint, marked with an S mint mark.
