The obverse of this round shows a pirate ship being attacked by the Kraken, a massive sea monster that looks like an octopus or squid. The Kraken’s head appears above the water, one tentacle is lifted in the air, while another holds the pirates’ treasure, ready to carry it to the depths of the ocean. The obverse also carries the inscription “2016”.
The common reverse of the “Welcome to Silverbugs Island” series shows an island of bullion in the middle of multiple damaged pirate ships. “WELCOME TO SILVERBUG ISLAND”, and “1 TROY OZ .999 FINE SILVER” are inscribed.
The Silverbug Kraken is the second of eight designs in the Welcome to Silverbugs island series, which illustrates the difficulties pirates encounter while hunting for treasure. The popular Silverbugs subreddit designed this and other Silverbugs rounds.
