Obverse

On the obverse side of the 2016 Proof Somalia Elephant Platinum Coin is a depiction of the Somali coat of arms. The national emblem comes with a single star on a field of horizontal lines on a crowned shield. The shield is supported by two leopards and surrounded by inscriptions that include Somali Republic, 2016, and the face value of the individual coin.

Reverse

The reverse face of 2016 PRoof Somalia Elephant Platinum Coins includes a unique vision of the African bush elephant. Here, the elephant is shown in the grass near the shore of a body of water. History

In 2016, the Bavarian State Mint introduced fractional-ounce silver to the program, as well as 2 oz, 5 oz, and 10 oz silver. The gold series gained more fractional-ounce coins to include a new 1/50 oz gold coin. Additionally, the mint added a 1 oz platinum coin with this commemorative proof set celebrating the debut with fractional-ounce platinum coins available.
