Obverse
On the obverse face of each 2016 Ukrainian Archangel Michael 1/2 oz Gold Coin features the image of the Archangel Michael, also known as Saint Michael. He is known as the leader of Gods army. It is Archangel Michaels duty to lead the forces of good into battles against evil in order to protect the children of God.
Reverse
The reverse side of these coins bears the image of the Ukrainian coat of arms. Ukraine, which is located in the far east of Europe on the Russian border, mints these coins, which feature engravings in Ukrainian. In fact, all engravings on these coins are in Ukrainian.
History
This coin series debuted in 2011. At the time, there were only three coin options available: a 1 oz silver coin, a 1 oz gold coin, and a 1/4 oz gold coin. In 2012, the series was expanded to include the 1/2 oz gold coin and the 1/10 oz coin. Both the 1/2 and 1/10 oz gold coins became popular, so they stayed in the series.
