Obverse

She is shown walking towards the left with her right hand outstretched towards the sun. In her left hand there are branches of oak and laurel, which symbolize military and civil glory. Inscriptions on the obverse read LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2016.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2016-W Walking Liberty Half Dollar 1/2 oz Gold Coins there is a depiction of an American eagle. In this design, the eagle is perched on a cliff but appears ready to take flight. There are reverse inscriptions also reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, HALF DOLLAR, AU 24K 1/2 OZ.
History
The original Walking Liberty Half Dollar was struck at the United States Mint between 1916 and 1947. Despite its popularity, the mint did have difficulties striking the coin, which may have led to it being replaced by the Franklin Half Dollar. While the Franklin Half Dollar and its successor, the Kennedy Half Dollar, remain popular, many still prefer the original Walking Liberty design for its sheer beauty. In fact, Adolph Weinmans design was so well-liked that it was chosen for the obverse of the now iconic American Silver Eagle in 1986.
