The obverse of the Palladium Eagle features a design based on Adolph A Weinman’s Winged Liberty dime, which has also been called the Mercury dime. You’ll find a profile view of Lady Liberty with her hair tucked into a winged Phrygian cap. Inscriptions read “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2017.”
The reverse is based on the American Institute of Architects’ gold medal from 1907. An eagle perched on a rock pulls at a laurel branch with its beak and talons. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ Pd .9995 FINE,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and the denomination.
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) grades the quality of coins according to a strict set of guidelines. A grade of Mint State 69 refers to a nearly perfect condition, with 70 being the highest grade a coin can earn. Once graded, coins are sonically sealed in plastic holders to preserve the condition in which they were graded. The label on this coin’s holder denotes Early Releases, which means that the coin was sent to the NGC during its first 30 days of issue.
