Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of 2017 Antique Ancient Canada Ogygopsis Silver Coins. This right-profile portrait was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt and is the only coin portrait during her reign to lack a crown. Inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, 2017, D.G. REGINA, and 20 DOLLARS.
Reverse
An Ogygopsis fossil is shown in the reverse design of 2017 Antique Ogygopsis 1 oz Silver Coins. This fossil shows the outer encasement of the Ogygopsis and offers a brilliant, textured finish. The appearance of this fossil replica was verified by paleontologists from the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta. Inscriptions include CANADA and OGYGOPSIS.
History
These Ancient Canada Series coins are splash-struck specimens. This old-world technique can result in irregular shapes and coins that not only have different shapes, but different thickness dimensions. Some coins may be larger and flatter than others in this series.
