Like most RCM coins, the obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Susanna Blunt.
Designed by Calder Moore, the reverse captures a bat taking flight before a full moon. This is the second coin in the Nocturnal by Nature series of coins that explore the wildlife of Canada at nighttime.
Because this series pays homage to the nocturnal wildlife of the Canadian wilderness, each coin is selectively plated with black rhodium, which is also considered a precious metal. Layers of rhodium plating are built up to achieve the look and mood of a moonlit night.
The full moon is left unplated, allowing the silver’s surface to mimic the luminous effect of the celestial body at night.
Each Little Brown Bat coin comes nestled in a maroon clamshell box for protection and display purposes.
