There are 12 signs in the Zodiac, with each one represented by a color, a stone, and a symbol. The Royal Canadian Mint collection exploring the Zodiac includes vibrantly colored designed and real Swarovski crystals.

The coins each feature the 12 Zodiac symbols, but there are slight design differences between each coin representing the symbol. There is a larger colored Swarovski crystal in the center of the design, and a smaller one that is depicted aligned with that Zodiac symbol.

Obverse

The obverse design of the 2017 Canadian Zodiac Aquarius 1/4 oz Silver Coin features the right-profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait was brought to life in 2003 by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt and began being shown on Canadian coins in 2004. Also on the obverse side of the coin are the words Canada, Elizabeth II, 3 Dollars, 2017 and D.G. Regina.

Reverse

The reverse design of the 2017 Canadian Zodiac Aquarius 1/4 oz Silver Coin features each of the 12 Zodiac symbols. The Aquarius symbol is shown lined at the top of the design, with a white Swarovski crystal aligned with it. Those who are born between January 21 and February 19 fall under the Aquarius Zodiac sign. They are said to be known for being creative, progressive and intelligent.
