The 2017 Proof Cook Islands Mother of Pearl Bicycle 5 oz Silver Coin pays tribute to the 200-year anniversary of the invention of the bicycle. This simply designed contraption transformed the transportation abilities of countless around the world. This coin is one of 2 released to recognize this 200-year anniversary. It is delivered inside of an interesting wooden box, designed to look much like the wheel of a bicycle. The coin contains .999 pure silver which, when combined with the exceptionally low mintage figures, makes this coin highly collectible. The coin is rather large, at 5 Troy oz and has a $25 face value issued and backed by the Cook Islands governing body.

The bicycle first came to live in the 19th century, in Europe. First known as the Draisienne, this contraption was developed by a man of German descent, Baron Karl von Drais. The bicycle was first publically introduces in the summer of 1817, in Mannheim and again a year later in Paris.

At the 2017 200th year anniversary of the bicycle, over a billion bicycles have been produced since the very humble start of this two-wheeled form of transportation. In fact, there are more than twice the number of bicycles produced globally than there are automobiles.

Obverse

The obverse design of the 2017 Proof Cook Islands Mother of Pearl Bicycle 5 oz Silver Coin features the fourth-generation portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait was created by famed sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. It has been featured on commonwealth coinage across the globe.

Reverse

The reverse design of the 2017 Proof Cook Islands Mother of Pearl Bicycle 5 oz Silver Coin features an interesting colorized design. The image splits in two, with the left-hand side of the image paying tribute to the history of the bicycle. The right side of the image depicts a bike rider of today, riding competitively. The design features a Mother of Pearl overlay, to enhance the uniqueness of the coin.

Each of the 2017 Proof Cook Islands Mother of Pearl Bicycle 5 oz Silver Coins is shipped secured inside of a round wooden box that resembles the spoked bicycle wheel. A numbered Certificate of Authenticity ships with each coin.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.

When will my order ship?

Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.

Can I choose the method of shipping?

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.

Will I need to sign for my package?

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.

What about International Orders?

Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
