Each of these graded Proof Silver Eagles is made of one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and comes in a plastic holder. This encapsulation preserves the condition of the coin and the grade given by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).
A First Strike coin is one that PCGS received within the first 30 days of the coin’s minting. The label features an American flag and the First Strike logo, along with text that reads “2017-W,” “$1,” “PCGS PR69DCAM,” and “SILVER EAGLE.” A grade of 69 indicates that a coin is in near perfect condition.
Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Lady Liberty design is seen on the obverse. She walks toward a sunrise with her right arm outstretched. An American flag drapes across her shoulders and she holds branches of laurel and oak in her left arm. Inscriptions read “LIBERTY,” “2017,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The reverse features a heraldic eagle and shield, designed by John Mercanti. A banner in its beak reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and it holds arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.” A “W” mint mark lets you know that the coin was produced at the West Point Mint location.
