King Tut is one of the most talked-about pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. He reigned for just nine years between 1334 BCE and 1325 BCE as the final member of his royal family to rule during the 18th dynasty. He was the son of the powerful and controversial Pharaoh Akhenaten and his wife, known only as the Younger Lady. King Tuts parents were discovered to have been brother and sister through DNA analysis in the 20th century.

On the obverse side of the 2017 Republic of Chad Egyptian Relic Series King Tut 1 oz Gold Coin is a depiction of King Tut in right-profile relief. In his right hand, King Tut clutches what is known as a Was scepter. In Ancient Egypt, the scepter was used as a symbol of magical power and divine right. It was often associated with various gods and goddesses, and often used by pharaohs as an emblem of authority pointing to their divine right to rule.

The reverse face of the 2017 Republic of Chad Egyptian Relic Series King Tut 1 oz Gold Coin includes the coat of arms for the Republic of Chad in the center. The shield boasts alternating wavy lines that, in real life, are captured as alternating gold and blue lines. The lines are representative of the sun rising over the waters of Lake Chad and symbolize new beginnings. The shield is supported by a lion on the right and a goat on the left. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Republique du Tchad, 1 Troy oz, 3000 Francs CFA, .9999 Fine Gold. The date mark of 2017 is also found on this face of the coin.

King Tuts tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter during an expedition in Egypt. Tuts tomb was found entirely intact with his gold-emblazoned sarcophagus. King Tuts tomb discovery was a major moment in world history and his body has been extensively studied over the course of nearly a century.

2017 Republic of Chad Egyptian Relic Series King Tut 1 oz Gold Coins are available sealed inside of individual Certi-Lock packages that include a unique serial number assigned to the coin by Scottsdale Mint.
