All of the coins in this listing are in BU condition. Coins in this condition will have no signs of wear and tear. However, they may have minor flaws. These flaws could include breaks in the luster and spotted surfaces. Additionally, contact marks may be present.

Obverse

The obverse face of the Somalia Elephant Silver Coins changes every year. For this release, you will see an elephant on the open plains standing in a patch of grass. In the background, you can see a modest hut and a single palm tree providing the hut shade.

Reverse

On the reverse side of these coins, youll see the coat of arms for the nation of Somalia. The seal contains a heraldic shield set above two crossing spears wrapped together in a ribbon. On the seal, there is a single star against a background of horizontal lines. A single leopard stands on either side of the shield to hold it up.

History

The Somalia Elephant Coins are minted by the Bavarian State Mint in Germany. The mint is located in Munich, and it is a state-owned entity of the Free State of Bavaria.

This year marks the first year that the 1/10 oz silver coins are available. Two other fractional weights were also added to the lineup. In 2016, the mint also added in a platinum option.
