Bullion coins are among the most popular items and lunar-themed designs have become increasingly common over the last two decades. Just because there are multiple programs available doesnt mean each one is the same. Take the Zi:Sin Series from KOMSCO, for example. These silver and gold medals feature the 12 Guardians of Korean culture. Today, you have the chance to purchase 2017 South Korean Zi:Sin Gallus 1/10 oz Gold Medals from Provident Metals.

  • Do ggae bi is depicted on the obverse.
  • The warrior known as Gallus is on the reverse.

KOMSCO introduced the Zi:Sin Series in 2017 with these Zi:Sin Gallus Gold Medals. The specimens are widely available in 1 oz and 1/10 oz weights for international investors, with other fractional weights offered in specific markets. The series is meant to mimic lunar-themed collections, but follows Korean culture and its tales of the 12 Guardians.

Obverse

For the obverse of 2017 South Korean Zi:Sin Gallus Gold Medals, KOMSCO uses its popular combination of the face of Do ggae bi and the battle shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang. The shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang features the grotesque face of Do ggae bi as a means of intimidating his opponents in battle.

Reverse

On the reverse, 2017 South Korean Zi:Sin Gallus 1/10 oz Gold Medals bear a depiction of the warrior known as Gallus. He is one of the 12 distinct warriors that lead Gods armies when the forces of evil rise up to threaten the mortal world. Gallus brings his own unique powers to bear in the fight. Gallus has the power to summon a blinding light that impairs the vision of his enemies on the field of battle. He wears a tall helmet with ornate plumage that allows him the gift of foresight, enabling him to predict the outcome of upcoming events.

History

Gallus was the first issue in the Zi:Sin Series. Though this series reflects the cultural tale of the 12 Guardians, it also has certain lunar themes included in the design elements. For example, Gallus was released in the Year of the Rooster. Not only do some of his characteristics match those assigned to the rooster in Chinese culture, but his battle helmet even reflects the appearance of a rooster with tall plumage.

Ordering

2017 South Korean Zi:Sin Gallus 1/10 oz Gold Medals are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and arrive inside of individual sealed cards. These assay cards include identifying information for the medals and a unique serial number.
