The original Ghostbusters movie was a box office hit in 1984. The popularity of what is now a cult classic, led producers to release a 1989 sequel called simply Ghostbusters II. The 2017 Tuvalu Ghostbusters Crew 1 oz Silver Coin pays tribute to the original ghost-busting crew, with a full-color design that collectors love.

The movie is set in 1984 and features the three main characters of Ray Stantz, Dr. Peter Venkman, and Dr. Egon Spengler. After a series of events led them to be unemployed, the trio set up their new business in an abandoned firehouse in New York City. Their plan was to tout themselves as experts on the supernatural. What started as a simple experiment to connect with those whove passed on ultimately turned into a terrifying but camp experience for all of Manhattan as legions of ghosts and ghouls were unleashed upon the city.
