Obverse
President George Washington features on the obverse of all coins in the 2017 US Mint Proof America the Beautiful Silver Quarter Set. This design was created in 1932 by John Flanagan for the US quarter. Washingtons effigy was put on the quarter that year to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. The inscriptions on this side include LIBERTY, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, QUARTER DOLLAR, and the S mint mark.
Reverse
Various sites from across the United States are found on the reverse of 2017 US Mint Proof American the Beautiful Silver Coins in this set. The Iowa coin represents Effigy Mounds National Monument. The Washington D.C. coin honors Frederick Douglass National Historic Site. Ozark National Scenic Riverways represents Missouri. The Statue of Liberty National Monument is represented by the image of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island and was issued for New Jersey. George Rogers Clark National Historical Park features on the Indiana coin. These coins have shared inscriptions of E PLURIBUS UNUM and the 2017 date mark. Each one has its own state and site inscriptions.
History
The 2017 release of coins represented designs 36 through 40 in the 56-coin ATB Series. The 2017 was the third-to-last release of Proof ATB Quarter Sets with 90% silver. Starting in 2019, the US Mint switched to .999 pure silver in the proof quarters.
