This design shows Liberty in left-profile, wearing a crown of stars based on the Statue of Freedoms headpiece from atop the U.S. Capitol. Artist Justin Kunz created the design, while Phebe Hemphill, a Mint Sculptor-Engraver, brought it to life. The inscriptions read LIBERTY, 1792, 2017, and IN GOD WE TRUST.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2017-W High Relief 225th Anniversary Liberty 1 oz Gold Coin shows a bald eagle soaring through the air, capturing a powerful image of freedom and strength. The details of the eagles feathers and intense gaze are presented in high relief. Chris T. Costello, a member of the Artistic Infusion Program, designed this reverse, which was sculpted by Mint Sculptor-Engraver Michael Gaudioso.
