Obverse
The obverse side of 2018 Antique Mexican Libertad Silver Coins comes with a depiction of the national coat of arms. In fact, there are 11 versions of the seal on this side. At the center, the modern coat of arms is shown with a golden eagle on a prickly pear cactus with a serpent in its beak and talons. The wreath below is made of oak and laurel, with ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS noted above. Around it, there are 10 historic versions of the seal flanking the border.
Reverse
On the reverse face of the 2018 Antique Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin, you will find the statue of Winged Victory. A symbol of Mexicos victory over Spanish colonizers, Winged Victory stands at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column with a wreath in one hand and a set of broken chains in the other. The field includes inscriptions of 5 ONZAS, PLATA PURA, 2018 LEY .999, and the OM mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
History
The Antique Mexican Libertad Silver Coin was issued in 2018 and 2019. The 2019 release featured a mintage cap of just 1,000 coins in each of the 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz weights, while the 2018 debut included 40,000 coins in the 1 oz weight, with 2,000 coins each in the 2 oz and 5 oz weights.
