The Armenian Noahs Ark collection debuted from Geiger Edelmetalle in 2011. The series originally featured 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz silver coins, making the series one of few silver bullion collections available at the time with fractional-ounce coins. Today, the series includes a total of seven weights for investors to purchase each year. Provident Metals now has 2018 Armenian Noahs Ark 1 oz Silver Coins available to purchase online.

Obverse
The obverse face of 2018 Armenian Noahs Ark 1 oz Silver Coins comes with the Armenian coat of arms. The national coat of arms includes a quartered shield with the two heraldic animals of the nation, the Eagle and Lion, prominently featured in the shield. At the center of the quartered shield is a second shield with the image of Mount Ararat and Noahs ark resting at the top of the mountain after the floodwaters have subsided. Inscriptions include 500 Dram, 1 oz Ag 999, Republic of Armenia.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2018 Armenian Noahs Ark Silver Coin is a depiction of Noahs ark. In this design, the ark is shown floating along the floodwaters as the sun rises over Mount Ararat in the background field. A single dove flies into the foreground with an olive branch in between its talons. Inscriptions in English include only Noahs Ark.
History
Mount Ararat is spoken of in the bible in terms of Noahs ark, but it is more than just a part of a story. The mountain itself was historically within the bounds of the Armenian empires of old. However, at the end of World War I when the Ottoman Empire collapsed, the political position of the mountain changed. With the formation of modern Turkey, the borders of Eastern Europe were redrawn and Armenian lands were lost to Turkey. Prior to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the boundary between Armenia and its neighbors ran over Mount Ararat. After the war, that line was moved and put the mountain squarely within Turkish territory.
